PISEA – Promoting Intercultural Science Education for Adults

Description:

With the ongoing refugee crisis, European societies are facing their greatest transformation and challenges for the last decades. It is widely acknowledged that education plays a decisive role for successful integration of disadvantaged groups in society. In this situation, science centers/museums have a crucial role to play in offering low-threshold adult science education, and in strengthening of key competences of refugee and migrant adults. PISEA invested in improving science centres and museums as places for adult science education in an intercultural and inclusive perspective. During the lifetime of the project it addressed science communicators as well as other staff through awareness-raising, development of resources and specific trainings. The project also addressed refugees and migrants as adult learners, through providing an encouraging, welcoming, and low threshold setting.
