L-STEAM Summer School 2025

6 - 11 July 2025

Can you imagine theatre practices, designed to deepen student engagement, and learning in STEAM fields?
Would you like to engage your students in exploring STEM subjects through activities like theatre performances, or musical performances based on scientific concepts?
L-STEAM project helps you develop and adapt competence-based teaching-strategies that promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

L-STEAM Summer School seeks to familiarize teachers with ways to empower their profession in designing and implementing STEAM activities in real school settings.

The L-STEAM project represents a strategic and timely intervention in the evolving educational landscape, aiming to establish a foundational framework for integrating STEAM

(Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education into school curricula across Europe. This initiative is driven by a pressing need to develop and enhance the skills of educators, enabling them to effectively adopt and implement this innovative educational approach.

The L-STEAM Summer School 2025 is offering teachers training experience based on the democratization of educational access, catering to a diverse student body by enhancing key competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence. Central to the project’s mission is the transformation of the educational paradigm within STEM fields, achieved through an innovative integration of arts and science.

The Summer School will seek to introduce participants into crucial objectives of the project. These objectives can be summarized as follows:

  1. To support and guide educators and students through the implementation process with comprehensive plans that incorporate feedback mechanisms and adaptation strategies.
  2. To execute the L-STEAM approach in schools, utilizing the STEAM IDEAS’ Square and the Scenarios of Use to facilitate student-led projects that blend science with the arts.
  3. To assess the impact of the L-STEAM approach, employing refined assessment tools that measure qualitative and quantitative changes in STEAM education within the participating schools.
  4. To ensure gender-balanced participation, at least 50% female student engagement in the activities will be targeted, thereby promoting diversity and inclusivity.
  5. To disseminate the innovative L-STEAM methods and promote a sustainable network of educators who will continue to use and develop these approaches beyond the project’s duration.

The project deploys methodologies like Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) and open schooling to introduce transdisciplinary arts-science activities. These activities, rooted in theatre practices, are designed to deepen student engagement, and learning in STEAM fields.

What is ERASMUS+?

Erasmus+ is the European Commission’s Programme for education, training, youth, and sport for the period 2021-2027. As an integrated programme, Erasmus+ offers more opportunities for the mobility of learners and staff and cooperation across the education, training, and youth sectors and is easier to access than its predecessors, with simplified funding rules and a structure that aims to streamline the administration of the programme.

Erasmus+ Key Action 1 (KA1) provides a unique opportunity for teachers, headmasters, trainers, and other staff of educational institutions to participate in international training courses in different European countries. Schools, universities, vocational education and training, and adult education organizations are all eligible to receive full funding to attend courses under a KA1 mobility grant. The Erasmus+ KA1 grant covers all the costs to attend teacher training courses: including travel, subsistence, and course fee.

For up-to-date information about Erasmus+ please check the Programme’s website. Your school will need to apply to your country’s National Agency, who is also the one who will evaluate the proposal. Therefore, your National Agency is also a very good point to start for more information.

Don’t forget to go through the the New Programme Guide and you will have all you need to know.

The steps to apply for an Erasmus+ KA1 School Education Staff Mobility grant are:

  1. Fill in the registration form to our Summer School with your details. This is an individual registration form, so if there are more than one participant from the same school, each one will have to submit a separate registration form. This way you have reserved a slot in the course in case your application for Erasmus+ funding is successful!
  2. Register your school/organization here: https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/erasmus-esc/index/ , if not already registered.
  3. Check the compliance with the programme criteria
  4. Check the financial conditions
  5. Fill in and submit the application form
  6. Respect the deadline
  7. Do not forget to inform us as soon as you get notified from your National Agency whether your grant application is accepted or rejected.
